Asean NGOs want to aid Rohingya

BUTTERWORTH: The Malaysian Islamic Organisations Consultative Council (Mapim) will urge the Myanmar government to allow humanitarian missions, especially from Asean, to help Rohingya.

Mapim secretary-general Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid said it would meet Myanmar President Thein Sein and opposition leader leader Aung San Suu Kyi to discuss the matter on Aug 1.
"Non-governmental organisations from Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and Cambodia will go to Yangon to meet the Myanmar president and Aung San (Suu Kyi) next Wednesday," he said here yesterday. Bernama
